Defeating the Curse (DTC)

The Redskins head to Philadelphia on Monday night for a showdown to clarify the top ranks of the NFC East. The 'skins lost to the Eagles in the season opener but Joe and LP are convinced the game should have ended differently. Stevie and FP are more focused on the task at hand and think the Redskins have a reasonable chance to go into Philadelphia and win. One thing is for sure, all four talking heads are finished with TP and this receiver group. They simply must play better. The Eagles can be beat and the Redskins are certainly good enough to do it. Will the Redskins primetime luck continue? LP, FP, and Joe think so (Joe's taking the over too), while Stevie isn't convinced. Who you got Monday Night?

It’s an unimpressive victory Sunday in the nation’s capital, it you didn’t see the game you wouldn’t think the Redskins won based on LP and FP’s outtakes. FP was fired up about Jay Grudens play calling while LP was perfectly putting all the blame on the players. The WR’s were nowhere to be seen, and Chris Thompson once again led the team in receiving yards. The secondary position took some bumps and bruises but ultimately came through with the clutch INT by Kendall Fuller. At the end of the day our former beloved WR Pierre Garcon was the MVP of the Redskins defense. Thank you Pierre. Listen on this week’s instant over reaction show.

This may be the most gut wrenching of them all. For a team that’s suffered three straight NLDS game five losses before tonight, including one in which they led 6-0, that’s telling. Of course, in true tragic and familiar fashion the Nationals found yet another way to lose in spectacular fashion; painful fashion. Where do we go from here? Mat, Stevie, and Joe discuss on a depressing end of season podcast as the Nationals fall to the Cubs at home. This was it DC, our best shot at defeating the curse, but just like the Wizards losing in an elimination game, Captials too, and Redskins losing a win-and-your-in game last season, the Nationals couldn't pull out a win when the city needed it most. Stevie and Joe discuss what the Redskins need to do to win/dominate the 49ers on Sunday and what the issues will be if they lose. With Shannahan and Garcon returning to face their former team both will be hungry to get the 49ers into the win column for the first time in 2017. The Redskins are the better team, they should win, but this is DC after all and the city is still disoriented after another game five Nationals loss at home... a Redskins win would be the perfect chaser to get us all feeling just a little bit better. Two life-long 49ers fans join the show as well, but ultimately the general thought is the Redskins should win. Stevie like this to be a high scoring game, Joe thinks the opposite... time will tell! The 2017 MLB Postseason has arrived and the Nationals are locked and loaded for a run towards the World Series! Mat, Anthony, Stevie, and Joe talk about expectations for the Nationals vs Cubs series to start on Friday in DC and get into detail about potential pitching rotations, batting order changes, and identify a few unlikely candidates for the title of hero should the Nationals pull off the series win! The DTC crew will be at every Nationals home game throughout the series and will provide analysis and thoughts after every game as well! The Nationals have work to do, and the entire city of DC is collectively, cautiously, awaiting the start to what should be a great series! The Redskins were in position to win, but with a minute on the clock and the defense on the field they couldn't keep the Chiefs from pulling ahead on the final possession. These two teams mirror each other in several ways but with poor clock management and a big shot to win that slipped through our hands the Redskins head into the bye week with a 2-2 record. FP, LP, Stevie, and Joe wrap up the LIVE viewing party from Glory Days and look ahead to the 49ers in two weeks time. This one stings deep... we could have won! The guys break down the key differences between the two teams and touch on the similarities too including speedy running backs, fast middle linebackers, and a secondary that can shut down any reciever core in the league. Hail to the Redskins! What a complete performance from the Redskins tonight against a very good Raiders team! LP is singing, FP is smiling, Stevie is dancing in the streets of DC, and Joe is convinced we are Super Bowl-bound! The guys pass out their game balls to coaches and players highlighting the best plays of the night and talk X's and O's about what worked and what didn't as the focus now changes to an equally good KC Chiefs team next Monday night in another primetime tilt! The fellas also discuss their reaction to Dan Snyder locking arms with the players during the national anthem tonight and share a few thoughts on what they saw around the league too. After the first win of the 2017 season, FP and LP are breaking down the win with instant reactions. The mentee couldn't defeat the mentor. Aaron Donald was a force but just not enough for the LA Rams, as they went down to the Washington Redskins 27-20. FP and LP break down their grades for the offense, defense and special teams. The offensive run game was running on all cylinders today, however the pass game struggled at times. The defense had a solid showing with the one-armed Mason Foster sealing the game with a 4th quarter pick. At the end of a day a win is a win and the Washington Redskins won the game. LP and FP are both confident the Redskins will get better with time, but have 2 tough games coming up. We are going to enjoy this win for 24 hours before moving on the Oakland Raiders. FP and LP are back on to preview the Redskins and Rams. Today marks exactly 20 years since the FedEx field has opened. The Redskins at 79-81-1 during their 20 year tenure at FedEx field. LP is annoyed at Redskins fans reaction after their season opening loss to the Philadelphia Eagles. FP things Redskins fans are justified because of all they had to put up with. FP defends Dan Snyder as he has been surprisingly silent and allowing the front office to run the team. There are many coaching ties between the Redskins and the Rams, where FP and LP discuss who has the coaching edge. A special Patriots Day episode of D.T.C. remembering all those impacted by 9/11 here in DC and beyond. The Nationals have won the NL East for the fourth time in six years and all eyes now turn to the postseason! The Nats didn’t just take care of business, they did in historical fashion locking up the NL East in record time (fastest in 15 years) and well, who cares that the NL East is historically bad, we are going to the playoffs! Stevie and Joe talk all things Nats including how amazing Trea Turner is playing (as if he hasn’t missed any time), when/if Bryce will return, and which opponent would you rather not see in the postseason; D’backs, Cubs, Brewers, Dodgers… Cardinals. The Nats aren’t streaking, they are just plain great, and the numbers don’t lie. The pitching rotation is tops in MLB and at any time the bats can explode too. The Eagles came into FEDEX and beat the Redskins today and Stevie and Joe are not happy about it! The Skins offense started slow (again) and well, never really found their groove. The running game struggled, special teams too, however the defense was a positive bright spot... at least Joe thinks so. FP is pissed that Sua has left the team and Stevie doesn't really care but thinks the timing is really bad. LP thinks everyone is basing their assessments of Cravens on potential and the desire to find the next Sean Taylor (RIP 21)... The DTC crew in typical Redskins-fan style lower their expectations after a poor preseason heading into Week 1. Is the team collapsing under the weight of fan expectations or are fans just expecting too much? Fantasy Football Season is here! The DTC boys are joined by David, 20, and Razzle to execute a mock six-round 10-team PPR draft with Joe and Stevie providing color commentary along the way. FP, LP, David, 20, and Razzle each drafted two teams and the results were mixed. FP put together two solid rosters while LP, David, and Razzle, put together one strong and one average roster. 20 however ended up with two really bad rosters... but that's ok, because every league has one of "those guys" right? Joe shared his thoughts on several players not drafted in the top 60 and Steve provided some strategy insights into the best course of attack to build a winning roster... the irony of course being Steve is one of the worst fantasy football players of all-time. This show was a lot of fun and the analysis provided throughout will prove to be helpful to all fantasy players as we head into the long fantasy-draft-holiday-weekend! Listen, comment, and share! Game of Thrones Season Finale Podcast is here! Stevie, FP, and Joe break down all 73mins of awesomeness in the finale of the course of this special edition, extended podcast. So many twists in turns along the way leading to ALL of the main characters of the show finally ending up in the same place at the same time and the scene didn't disappoint! *Spoilers Here* While Stevie and FP give the episode an A (and the season a B-) Joe was more disappointed in the finale due to what he calls the "sloppy timing" and "unnecessary plot extensions" which he explains in full. Well, Kyrie is a Celtic, and Crowder is a Cavalier, and that means the Wizards will win the Eastern Conference this season! LP and Joe break down all the details of the trade and project forward about how the Wizards actually improved by default by doing nothing! Boston has now traded five of their top seven scorers from last year and their three best perimeter defenders while acquiring more offensive firepower with Hayward and Irving. The Cavaliers however now have some insurance parts in place just in case LeBron decides to leave Cleveland for a second time and a very high first round pick as well! Special guest Monica B from Cleveland joins the duo to explain why everything in Cleveland isn't so bad even if James does leave next year... The Nationals are still missing key players but they are getting closer to a full "stud" lineup (6m-11) and Dusty continues to work his magic with the roster day in and day out (11m-14). The Redskins came out of the gate flat in week one of the NFL preseason. Another week of practice, more defined expectations and the hope for a successful first drive are things we want to see week two against Greenbay. FP, LP, Stevie, and Joe are all back to talk Redskins... a whole lot of Redskins. The Redskins came out flat against the Ravens (:1-:930) and the guys wonder why and if Training Camp has something to do with it (:11-:14). The slow starts are problematic and have becoming a defining negative feature of Jay Gruden's tenure (:15-:23) so the fellas offer a few suggestions to get the team out of the gate with a bang to start the season. The schedule isn't ideal for the Skins this year (:24-:31) with so many primetime games that the team MUST start fast in hopes of a split over the last six games at the end of the season. Will Kap or RG3 land on a team this season (:32-:39), plus, in a rare political exchange, the boys talk very openly and honestly about the events in Charlottesville over the past few days (:40-:47).... so much going on... listen and share! The Nationals can't seem to get everything going in the same direction at the same time.
