Defeating the Curse (DTC)

While Lebron is distracting sports fans with another "decision" the boys are in studio recapping the trip to LA, the win against the Chargers, and are making preparations for Monday Night against the Bears. JD5 looked good but Bill looked GREAT. The defense made adjustments and shutting out a team for three quarters is no small feat. The boys also look around the NFL with some surprise moves into and out of the top 5 + the NHL season is about to start... lets go CAPS! 

The boys are bummed after a (non competitive) loss in Atlanta on Sunday. The offense looked anemic and the defense looked ancient... it's over; we're cooked. Nobody wanted to see a 40/40 game end in a tie; Tyreek likely done/done and we look around the league to assess the weekly top 5 and low 5. Plus, YouTube TV might have broken a few guys this week prompting a return to hardwired 4k. 

The boys are ready to discuss all things NFL including #Commanders new signing and continued kicking woes. There are a few tough questions that fans need to consider about why the offense looked the way it did on Sunday as MM prepares for another week under center. Fantasy football target pickups for the week plus what's more impressive x2 "Colts or Bucs" edition.... and the WWE moved to ESPN with a poorly named and poorly covered PLE... but nobody cares because Cena lost and Brock isn't marketable any more... maybe. Well... only one panelist had the 'skins losing on Thursday and oof did they look bad with the national spotlight on them. The Cowboys and Giants played a classic; the Dolphins and Raiders looked atrocious, and the league is plagued with injuries... plus, Adam Silver is the worst commissioner of any sport, ever not only calling fans "poors" but also encouraging them to "go watch highlights"... just crazy... this is a wild episode.

NFL Week 1 is in the books and the #Commanders opened the season at home with a WIN! The offense looked good; the defense looked better; the #Giants looked terrible. We go around the horn and identify the top and bottom teams in the league and it wouldn't be a new season without some over the top over-reactions to week 1! Lots of NFL talk headed your way on this one! ...also, nobody cares about the #Packers! 
 

It's finally here... football is back! With the NFL season schedule in just a few days the boys are in studio for one last time making bold predictions for the Commanders and for the league at large. Did the Clippers do something new or did they get caught doing something everyone does? The boys all watched Deja Vu for OMC and share their personal goals for the upcoming fall and winter season leading up to New Years in January!
 

Football is so close, literally so close! The boys are on the mics discussing final roster cuts from around the league and locally the biggest news of the summer is Scary Terry has been resigned to a massive 3-year $96mil extension! Cracker Barrel continues to hate its heritage and customers and one cast member finally watched a classic film for the very first time. 

Summers end is around the corner and the boys are ready ready ready to get to fall and back to sports that matter! It is time to breakdown the #Commanders schedule and get ready for the start of the regular season which is just a few weeks out! The boys are getting back into the "swing" of things covering training camp, the latest Terry contract news and a quick OMC discussion of Happy Gilmore 2 on Netflix!

The boys are in the studio for a casual discussion on a plethora of topics. This is the last week without football until February of next year... let that sink in! Will the Commanders get a deal done with TM? under 32m per year? The Cowboys have a problem on their hands + what do you remember most about Hulk?

FP and Joe miss each other and thus, the mics are turned on for this mid-summer jam session. The boys lament the heat and take some time to get caught up on life happenings and the DC sports scene. Most notably the Commanders are getting their colors back, the Wiz are poised for a postseason push, and the Nationals... ooooof!  The offline chat became the Offseason Movie Club with the boys having a spirited debate about the first half of the Fast & Furious series.

FP and Joe are in the studio (late this week) to talk about a whole bunch of stuff. The #Capitals were eliminated (Go Florida!), the NBA playoffs are enjoyable and the Pacers are literally making history over and over again, the Finals matchups work with a bunch of different combinations depending on your preferred flavor of basketball.. The world said goodbye to Around the Horn after nearly 5000 episodes... this show meant so much to all of us and is largely why sports podcasts are what they are today... 23 years is a wild run! The boys are suffering through a strong "DC CURSE" week and it shows on their faces and in their voices. The #Capitals are on the brink of elimination, the #Wizards had a chance to rebuild fast but now can't, the #Nationals can't seem to win back to back games, and the Commanders have a billion primetime games... we know how that goes... just a tough tough week for DC sports fans. Plus the OMC revisits Blades of Glory for movie club.

The boys have a plethora of topics to discuss on the show this week including the big big news that required one commissioner, one owner, one mayor, and a PRESIDENT to announce! Capitals stumble vs 'Canes in game one but only Joe is panicked... FP says carry-on and do NOT freak out! ... Why is the NBA regular season and the NBA playoffs two different sports? ...  the NBA playoffs are getting good with parity and upsets nightly! ... Justin Tucker cut by Ravens, Cowboys pickup a WR to help Dak and the OMC review cult favorite Pineapple Express.

Oh many what a week in DC! The Commanders got a deal done with DC to redevelop RFK and the renders look amazing! The NFL draft came and went with so many compelling storylines and "villain" arcs being created, and locally the team did a mediocre/great job... depending on whom you ask! The NBA Draft lottery is a week away, the Nationals don't stink, and the CAPS are trying their best to not-screw-things-up! Plus the boys watched the Accountant for OMC! What a week, what a show! 

There is a trio in the studio discussing the NHL and NBA playoffs after a spirited "holiday" debate. Turns out Joe was so annoyed with WrestleMania he demanded the cast not discuss it, meanwhile Andy and FP defend the Capitals squandering a two goal lead as "business as usual"... BUT still expect them to win and win big in game two and beyond. Finally, OMC breaks down 2010's Sinners and Saints... it was Joe's pick... many many spoilers ahead!

FP, LP, and Joe are in the studio on the mics discussing DC sports and random happenings all over town. The RFK / DC Stadium deal appears REAL, the Commanders are one week away from the NFL draft and thinking ahead they need OL and Secondary help most notably... the Wiz have a 14% chance to land the top pick in the NBA draft and the Capitals are literally LIMPING into the playoffs. Plus, the boys discuss 2011's Colombiana on this weeks installment of the OMC.

Lock it in for this thiccccc episode! The boys are excited because the city is on fire over Ovi and the #Capitals. The team isn't as hot as they were but Ovi did break the record; tied at home, record set on the road, and the belly flop celebration was awesome! A few weeks back a topic was brought up regarding 90's #NBA that's still being discussed, baseball is in full swing with the #Nationals playing better, march madness is finally ending (watching live), and the boys lock in on Val Kilmer as the Saint for #OMC plus Ready Player One... it gets hot, with one person rage-quitting. Yup. Enjoy. 

The Offseason Movie Club convenes to review 1994's True Lies. Andy has never seen it, Joe highly recommended it... what do you think happened??? Loaded cast, talented director, nonstop action and chatter chatter chatter providing comedic relief throughout. Bit of a strange one this week with injuries and illness wrecking the cast and crew of DTC. May not be our best show ever, but the streak lives on! It doesn't happen often but all three DC pro teams might lose as of the taping, Ovi stuck on 892 but really coulda/shoula been 893 as the Caps fall flat over last few games, plus, March Mad/Sadness is almost over... can Cooper Flagg + AJ Johnson catapult the Wiz forward? Read that again... yup! They are THAT interesting and the Wiz front office KNOW what they are doing! For the weekly installment of the OMC the boys review 1994's True Lies and pay their respects to the great "Iceman" Val Kilmer... this is a 90min fatty! Enjoy! 

The boys stay with the mid 1990's action/cult classics as they watch and review The Professional. The movie is the director debut of Luc Besson, the feature film debut of Natalie Portman, and the first top bill for Jean Reno. After reviewing Leon/The Professional the boys sneak in a second movie review; 2018s Den of Thieves. Many many twists ahead! 

The show starts off with a crazy admission from one cast member and his "shower brush"... its wild. And continues with a discussion of ridiculous social media morning routines before pivoting into sports. The #Commanders remain active in free agency adding another WR to a crowded room meanwhile a few states away a divisional rival the #Giants; added not one by two QBs to their roster (29m). March Madness rolls on with one local team surging forward(40m); #Capitals and Ovi gets to 888 and the OMC unites (61min mark) to review 1994's The Professional + a bonus movie (2018 Den of Thieves) added on the fly! 

The offseason movie club (OMC) continues to be locked in on the mid 1990's and this week the boys watched and reviewed cult classic The Usual Suspects. Shocker, one person loved it, one person didn't, and one person struggled with their ranking. Have a movie suggestion? We are days away from the NCAA tournament and the endless discussion of brackets... yuck. Joe has officially rebranded March Madness into March Sadness because March is the first month of the year with no NFL action. Aaron Rodgers still undecided about where he will play next season holding the league hostage and more directly Russ Wilson. Locally the Wizards are "un-tanking" and the Capitals are ready ready ready for the post season... plus, the OMC reviews The Usual Suspects (1:03 start) with mixed feedback on the highly acclaimed film. 

What is "legal tampering" exactly? ... how are all of these NFL deals being announced just minutes after the tampering period begins? Can anyone explain it? The #Commanders were super active landing a STUD offensive lineman via trade comfortably in his prime and DT "BigDaddy" Kinlaw. Did the #Rams get a little better or a lot better? #Cowboys are doing nothing so far, and the #Colts are spending a lot on defense? Switching to the ice, the #Capitals got a few wins over the past week AND the #Great8 closes to single digits in his quest for the record. Plus, the boys continue the (Offseason Movie Club; min 55:02) OMC discussing 2002's the Count of Monte Cristo... have you seen it?
